Sony's new Vaio X Series is housed in a lightweight carbon-fiber chassis, making the laptop notebook weigh just 1.6 pounds with a standard battery.

The Vaio X Series is extremely thin at just over half an inch. The diagonal footprint of is 11.1 inches. The LCD is scratch-resistant, with LED backlight technology which provides brilliant picture quality with 100 percent color saturation.

The laptop has a solid state drive, reducing the risk of hard drive damage, and offering a rapid boot-up and quicker access to applications.

Standard battery life is 3.5 hours (and up to 14 hours for the super-extended capacity battery). Priced from $1,300.
